MY LAST COLORADO SUMMER PICTURES FOR THIS YEAR

Our time in Crested Butte this summer would not be complete without posting a photo of one of my favorite flowers.

The Fireweed was in full bloom while we were there, these were near our town hall, a short walk from our home.

Red Lady Bowl on Mt Emmons is a fitting backdrop for the wide variety of wildflowers growing there.

A walk along the Upper Loop that circles Mt Crested Butte gives another, closer view of Mt Emmons with Mountain Sage in the foreground.

The Loop path, which passes through meadows, Aspen forests and an area of house size boulders that years ago fell from the Mountain above is a prefect place for walking and biking.

The scenery varies along the way, but is always beautiful.

A HIKE UP TOWARDS SCARPS RIDGE ABOVE IRWIN

Out time in Crested Butte this summer was limited, as it always seems to be, but we managed a couple of short hikes to our favorite places. The path to Scarp's Ridge affords beautiful views of Lake Irwin and the mountain surrounding the area. I wish I had the talent to write wonderful poems to accompany my photos, but you will just have to be content with the pictures themselves.

The Colorado Columbine was in full bloom as were many of the other wildflowers.

The variety was endless and with Ruby and Owens Mountains in the background, at places the views were breathtaking.

Even from our home on a foggy morning, Mt Axtel peeking through the clouds is a pleasant sight.

Other times of the day we can enjoy watching the riders bring their horses down from the mountains.

The wildflowers frame Red Lady Bowl, which gets it name from reflecting the sun in the early morning light.

And our house sits in its own golden carpet.

THE TOP OF GOLDLINK NEAR OUR HOME

A short hike/drive to the top of the ski runs near our home afforded some beautiful scenery, and wildflowers.

The top of Crested Butte Mountain was visible above the Orange Sneezeweed.

The Silvery Lupine framed the view of the East River Valley -

As did the mountain Sunflowers.

The cool peacefullness of the Aspen Forest is always a joy.

COLORADO SUMMER

Now that we have returned to humid New Jersey, my thoughts returned to the 3 idyllic weeks we just spent at our home in Crested Butte. The wildflowers were beautiful this year due to a very rainy June.

I couldn't resist this shot from our neighbor's yard, looking over towards Red Lady Bowl and the surrounding mountains.

The Mariposa Lilies were in full bloom in the meadows.

There was still a bit of color left in the Red Poppies in town.
